FEI European Eventing Championships 2025

The 2025 event was held, for the first time in 20 years back at the wonderful setting of Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage Site, in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. GB’s Laura Collett held her nerve in the show jumping phase to take the title from Michael Jung of Germany. Tom McEwen, another GB rider was third. I went to the Opening Ceremony on the Wednesday returning on the Saturday for the cross country phase. Here is a gallery of some images from both of those days.

Venice

Our final port of the cruise was Venice. Juliet and I had sailed from there in 2010 having spent 2 nights pre cruise in an hotel. Another cruise we took ended in Venice but we came straight home. This year’s trip involved an overnight in Venice. Azamara Cruises are well known for having nights in a port to give people more time to enjoy their stay. In order to cut back on large cruise ships causing damage to the environment they are now berthed in either Fusina or Choggia on the mainland. This makes it more difficult to travel into the city centre to see the sights. However, it is worth it as I hope these images show.

As with the previous post these images were taken with my phone which is an iPhone 14. I am really impressed with the results. Unfortunately iPhone photos such as these are not suitable for uploading to Alamy so they can only be viewed directly or on my website. I did create a Photobox album of the trip using only phone images.

Holiday Sunsets

Whilst I mainly use either a DSLR or compact camera most of the time I have also used my phone on my most recent holidays. I’m not long back from a cruise from Athens to Venice with Azamara Cruises and actually took more photos with my phone rather than my camera which did travel with me! Some of the sunsets we saw can be seen below. Cruising on the open sea gives a great opportunity to photograph the sun setting over the sea.

Website up and running

After a bit of thinking I have transformed my photography website to WordPress. This is much easier to maintain than my previous site which was created using Adobe Lightroom and a plugin called LRB Exhibition. I did not update the old site very often as I found it to be rather complex, the plugin made it easier but it was created a number of years ago and technology has no doubt moved on.
